Forever Thankful

I have been going to Olympia for 10 years now and I can honestly say that it is my second home. I have formed relationships with people that are like family to me now. It is such an accepting and nurturing environment, self growth is almost inevitable there. Olympia holds a special place in my heart, causing me to want to go back year after year. I remember the first time I went to Olympia, I was petrified. Although I was going with my older brother, I was still anxious about meeting my cabin mates and being away from home for 2 weeks. As soon as I walked in my cabin my counselor gave me a big hug and said that she was so excited to finally meet me. I instantly felt welcome and any nerves that I had were gone completely. Ever since then I made it my goal to become a counselor there and have the same impact on other campers that my counselor had to me. Olympia pushes you to take risks, step outside your comfort zone, and work hard to achieve your dreams. It is sincerely beneficial in the growth and development of children and gives them a mindset that will help them throughout their whole life. I am so fortunate that I was able to be a camper at Olympia, and I hope this will help other children get the chance to be one as well.
